Beach walks Toda and yesterday

Shells from our morning walks, 8 degrees at 8 am this morning and a cold lazy breeze. The tide has been quite low and there are more shells t o be seen. Oh but my hands didn't like the cold. I must find my gloves. We were early this morning as we were to go to Adelaide for hair cuts but our hairdresser was caught up in the border closures due to the covid outbreak in Victoria so all ready early, up at 6 am, and no where to go. Instead I planted a pot of pansies and saw a beautiful monarch butterfly on a sage plant. About those shells, and the sea urchin, I love those very worn and broke whelks. I wonder how old this one is. Oh and so pleased to find a Cowrie, we haven't found one for ages. It is now a lovely sunny day perhaps another walk after lunch. That will be home made celery and leek soup with home made toasted bread.

A special visitor

Our best man, who we haven't seen for ages decided that his lovely, growley e type jag needed a run so came down to see us, a hasty lunch ( luckily I had soup and home made bread) was organised and a lot of chat and catching up was done. So nice. We don't get together as much as we once did. John and I find that every thing gets tiring these days.

sunrise and a few daily doodles

We had a spectacular sunrise this morning but by the time I managed to turn my tablet on it was fading. Taken early in my nightie from the front door. I have been trying to do a doodle a day, using up sketchbooks, this an old moleskin that was in a cupboard, needs to be used and not kept just in case. I doubt I will be doing any more big trips so use it now when I can. I have just been told that to have the wedding they want my newly engaged granddaughter won't be getting married until 2023! As these days they live together I don't suppose they are in any great hurry as we were but I could be dead by then . Things are so different now. I think I prefer ed the lovely simple weddings in the garden we all gave our girls.

A little stitchery

I have just finished this. I like to have something to stitch by my chair. I also have a small sketchbook and assorted pens to play in. After my sketchbook revival course I have lots of things I can do, I like the filling in mark making in particular. About to start mending socks, in my search for my darning mushroom I ended up doing quite a bit of tidying up. A good thing to do, I found more socks than I thought. The weather has got a lot cooler so I need socks.I am still struggling a bit but not as bad as it has been. May it keep on getting under control.

My beautiful orchid and indoor pots

I don't seem to be blogging as much these days, I don't think I have much of I Teresa to write about although I do enjoy reading other people's posts. It is v ery much autumn here, cooler, in fact cold nights and we do need rain although we have ha a bit but not enough. This morning we had our flu shots after a lovely walk over at Pt Elliot. Home Justin the for our Woolworth delivery. Oh Dea I thought I had lost this but managed to find it again. My lovely cattle orchid has decided to flower. I have had it for many years a d on the farm flowered regularly but here it wouldn't settlet, they are not cold climate plants but I now have high hopes. My table of cacti and succulent ts by the front window also give me great pleasure. Small things delight small minds. Another joy, which shows I am older and in my eighties is watching the honey eaters in the sage bushes in the front garden, they are so busy. I keep losing this so will publish before I give up.

garden and sea

On Sunday John took me to Echunga for our Welsh foal show. Our foals were not the judges choice but that is the way it goes. We came home the long way getting petrol in Mt Barker and back through Strathalbyn. The country out that way was looking very dry. Then we had a bit of rain yesterday, not much but every bit helps, we had a short walk along the cliffs and then over to the Kings Beach car park, trying to get the dirt washed off the car in the rain. I seem to get tired very easily at the moment. I did do a quick shop this morning. I needed some black tops as mine have all gone an off black colour. I tend to wear a lot of black. Any way I found three at a reasonable price. I really don't like shopping for clothes as these days I am a very odd shape.Home feeling rather tired.

Sometimes life is hard.

I have been doodling, trying NOT to think of the uncomfortable itch that my dermatitis is. I have good days and bad days. Told I have to manage it. All very well but at my age it is tiring and dare I say it depressing.the trouble is it is not consistent either. All I want to do is curl up in a ball. The doodling helps a bit. I am reading a lot. Don't feel like doing much else. Hope tomorrow is better.
