A busy few days.

It looked as if we were going to have some decent rain but so far only a few mm in short cold windy squalls. I dont know what the weather bureau thinks it is doing but not very satisfactory forcasts. Yesterday we drove to Adelaide for the dentist. We havent been able to afford them for ages but finally decided we had to go. I cant say I enjoyed it. I build up huge amounts of whatever, something to do with my saliva. I came out shaking and couldnt get home fast enough. A bit slow today but we did manage a walk at Petrels Cove between the showers and squalls. We have managed to dust and vacuum this morning and perhaps I have managed to get the boots on my doll at last. Perhaps going to bed at 8.30 pm last night helped. Dear friend P gave me a camelia and a pot yesterday. My favorite, Debutant, it is such an old one I am surprised she found it. All potted up now. Better think about dinner. At least we are more or less back to normal again, for the moment.

WAlking the cliffs between Parsons Beach and Waitpinga.

A lovely walk this morning, not sure if you can see lots ofr black dots in the water, the surfers were out in full force. It was a lovely warm morning. I love these beachs although I find it hard to get down to them these days and even the walking track at the top is abit fraught as it has a lot of loose stones and my eye sight has deteriated. I dont need to fall up there.

A baby blanket and an orchid.

I think I am happy with what I have done on this baby blanket. All I need now is to find sme backing fabric. We did manage a walk this morning but the change in the weather is affecting my arthritis, suddenly I am aching it is horrid. I did manage to pot up some bulbs and we brought the cattlya orchid in, it looks quite interesting. It is interesting finding places that suit my orchids. Was sent a wonderful white crucifix orchid from Barry in Queensland. Thank you so much.

We walked down to see if the River Inman had burst through to the sea at last and it had. There were pelicans and a lot of sea birds too. Big waves out to sea but now the river is open I suppose it will stay that way for winter. It was amazing how much water had built up, we have been watching it for weeks. I think the 18 mm we had the other night helped as well as the big waves.

Autumn is here, Raywood Nursery.

This morning John and I drove over to Raywood nursery at Delamere, along the peninsula but down in a gully with huge gum trees and lots of wonderful trees turning equally wonderful colours. I cant remember when we last went there, I think when we had a very new garden and were trying to get plants that would grow for us. I am afraid in those early days our garden was very different to the one I left. Hot and dry with deep sand soils, Raywood is in a gully with huge native gums and a much cooler climate on the whole. I wasnt allowed to buy but I saw a couple of things I would like and I hope I will be back. I miss my camellias and I can grow them in pots. It was a lovely time to have a wander some things were absolutely glowing. I have been feeling rather down at the moment, a couple of good friends are not well, one is dying in horrid circumstances, too far away for us to see, I have still got this wretched cough and not feeling 100% but this morning was a bit of a help. The weather has changed, it is unremittingly grey, cold and grey. We did have a good 20mm of rain but not a lot of other places had it. It was lovely to see green paddocks and lambs this morning. I dont want to do much but at least we found my box of art and craft books yesterday, I have been looking for them for ages. Now to find somewhere to put them.

Wintry weather and what I am making.

A very damp morning, about 9 mm I think. We didnt walk but loked at the sea and wondered if the River Inman had burst through to the sea, it hadnt, I think it will take a lot of rain or a very high tide before it gets through the sea weed and sand bank. I am slowly getting my baby blanket done, very slowly, but I think it will be ok when it is finished. I had lost a bit of enthusiasm about making it but I think now I have picked it up again I will get on with it. Not sure why but I seem to have been feeling tired all the time.

A lovely mothers day

We had a good walk this morning, along the cliffs towards Depps beach from the Kings Beach car park, longer than I have managed for a while. Then over to a late lunch at Tab and Johns with my three grand daughters, two great grand sons and Tab's John's mother and sister.I dont know what I was thinking but I only managed a photo of Lachie and Gabby. Had a bit of an off with the pixies day.

A week end of doll making with Jill Maas and the morning walk.

I had a tiring but wonderful week end away playing and making dolls with Jill Maas.So lovely to be with other doll makers. I am very slow so although my doll here has hair but is naked, I did manage to get a skirt on her. Now I have lots more work to do but I will do her slowly. Not in any great rush to finish her. The other little bears and dolls are all Jill's, so much talent. Love making dolls and I have a few more patterns to make up but I am tired today, lovely bit of rain at the moment. We walked early, lovely colours in the sea and sky. Had a doctors appointment and John had a meeting that was a bit messed up. Time for me to feed Max and George and do something simple for dinner. Kedgeree I think. Comfort food!

Rain

Listening to the rain on the roof and watching it bounce on the road. Bliss. My pots are loving it, the lawn is greening up before my eyes. Love it.

A 21st and the skies this afternoon.

We had Celina's very close family around for her 21st last night to eat pizza and then go home, she is 7 weeks off having her baby and although it takes me a fair sort of effort to do these things these days it was a lovely night. I felt we had to celebrate it, I was heavily pregnant for my 21st and it is nice to have some sort of celebration on the day Celina and Millie. We had a late walk this afternoon and the skies and light were incredible. We are supposed to get rain. I really hope so as it is terribly dry.

She is only about 7 weeks from the due date of her baby. I dont do much but was happy to have them here. It wont be a late night. We had a walk on the cliffs this afternoon, now for a little sit in my chair.
