I was trying to find a photo from last year but somehow I am having trouble . Enough to say we will be leaving at about 6 am in the morning and I hope to re communicate when we get there.

The other half of the quilt
Actually I have moved this around a bit and added a couple more smaller circles but this is the first half of the art quilt I cut in half, to be called 'The min min lights" I am going to bead a great swathe of 'stars' through the middle. Not going to be done in a hurry.
Today it was beautiful bright and sunny and I spent a huge part of it inside making biscuits for Coffin Bay. I had a mental aberration and doubled one mixture so we have enough mocha creams for ages and they take for ever to do. No wonder I only do them on special occasions.
I am now nursing an aching back that pain killers are not shifting.

Possible Layout for quilt 2
This is the possible layout for the other side of the quilt I cut in two. I quite like it and this one is to be entitled Ghost gum. I think my teacher thought it was a bit too light, it maybe but I can always attack it with paints or pencils if I dont like the finished article, after all it is an 'art quilt'. She suggested a wonderful way with tulle but I am afraid that is not me, but useful for later thoughts.
A beautiful day today, lovely and warm and sunny, possibly too warm.
I put the cushions off the outdoor chairs away, brought the table in under the verandah and put the chairs away in the shed.
Did several loads of washing and all but the towels dried.
I am getting stuff organised for Thursday.
Went over to see Tabby and Millie and John who is off to Alice Springs tomorrow. Millie made a determined effort to get to my earrings. I also had a good pair of earrings converted to hooks so I can now wear them and pulled another pair apart and re did them so I can now use those as well.
I think I now have all the ingredients for the biscuits I have to make tomorrow, biscotti and mocha creams.

Zygopetalum
Today is Mothers Day here and John brought this orchid in for me from the orchid house. I love these odd shaped and colored flowers and very often they are perfumed.
We went out for lunch today, a lovely lunch very well done and a bottle of champagne between us, so we came home for a rest!
All the children managed to either ring or see me today, some sort of record I think.
We had both spent a large part of the morning in the garden, I am cutting out a heap of dead shrubs and plants, not enough water with the drought and I am seriously re thinking what I am going to grow in future.

Walking to Granite Island
We had a lovely walk and coffee, collected the papers and home. A lot of tidying up was done and the freezer has had a much needed de frost.
I had quite a good but tiring day in Adelaide yesterday, Mummy was thrilled with the photo I had put on her card for Mothers Day and the flowers and other goodies I had got for her.
I had a few moment trying to communicate with John who I had to pick up, with the new phone, but finally we made contact. Every phone is different and although we had the same brand a year ago I had forgotten how to use it.
Isnt this last photo interesting with the color of the water over the sea grass.
A beautiful day, but no rain for a week. The problem is getting a bit frightening, with the Murray River getting worse and worse and no one really knows how to fix it. We dont rely on the river ourselves but we do need good winter rains to fill the subsoil.

TIF page for May done

This page for my TIF is a bit odd, I sort of went pretty one side and not the other, does this mean I have a split personality?
I was trying to get all the bits of my art life done in one page, and I am not sure it worked.
It is done and I look forward to June.
We will be away for two weeks fishing from next Thursday, yee gods a week off! So I am trying to tidy up a few things before we go. The fact that I have decided to cut up my quilt is another little thing to think about.
Today I have been very good and caught up on the ironing, and that is no mean feat, it seems to generate itself when I am not looking.
Tomorrow is Adelaide so there may not be a post, see how I feel when I get home.

Progress on TIF Challenge

This is no where near finished but I have made a start. this month the color was pale blue dark er blue, pink, cream and blue purple, well on my screen that is how it came out, and the theme was how or why or what sort of artist do you call yourself. well i went into that earlier, I am not an artist but I muck around with all sorts of things, so the background is stamped with some thoughts on what I do, then I found a lovely big A in corrugated card so that went on, a scaled down painting of mine put under some net, a small polymer head and some metal hands and a left over inchy, ( sorry that has gone on since, you will have to wait for another scan!) now that is mixed media if anything is. Now to add more embroidery and embellishments. I may go over the top with this one.
I am not happy with the quilt I am doing on line, I will sit on it for a while but I would dearly love to cut it in half as I think it is too big for what I like to do. I am not rushing into it.
A bit of rain over night but sun today for a while. Looking very autumny outside with what trees that still have leaves turning, so many just dropped them all with the lack of water.
Another grand daughter has turned 16, Isabelle, they all make me feel old. May is a month for birthdays.
