Petrel's, Parsons and Waitpinga.

Just home from a lovely little mothers day outing, we had a pizza looking over the beach at Petrel's, and saw a pod of little dolphins chasing fish, then on in gathering damp to Parsons Beach look out, one hardy soul out surfing there, along the cliff to look at Waitpinga, one fisherman there and then home the back way in gathering gloom. Not much rain in it, more like heavy mist but lovely to get to these beaches, although they are only about 20 minutes from home we dont get to Parsons and Waitpinga as much as I would like. Unfortunately getting down to them is a bit more than my knee can take these days. Now to get on with the second sock, I tried yesterday and unpicked it 3 times, I think I am having more luck today, dont ask me what I did but it was a mess. I think perhaps I talked myself into it being a failure. Double click to enlarge.

Walk and the circus is in town

I love the shape of the circus tents, we wont be going but it looks like fun. This morning we had quite a long walk along the cliffs and down to Depp's beach the tide was high but the seas not as huge as the last few days. We are supposed to get some rain but so far a few big drops and that is it. Still quite warm too. I am trying to get a small quilt finished, not my forte at all and I cant find the right material to use as backing. I think I will go and sit quietly and start my second sock.

Sock no 1

Now to get the second one knitted. I was worried I would not have enough wool but this one weighed about 36 gms and I have about 60 gms left in the ball so plenty. Thank goodness. I did make a couple of boo boos when the last few stitches fell off the needle but all was well and I have grafted the toe. I need a break before I start casting on the next lot of stitches.

Wild seas at Pt Elliot and a sleepy lizard

We have had a very large low sitting down south of us which has whipped up huge waves, the surfers have been loving it. What is also unusual is we have a northerly wind and its quite warm. We couldnt get on the beaches because of the high tides so went over to Pt Elliot and the waves were huge. I dont think my photos really show how big they were. A lovely walk, and just to show how warm it was we met this sleepy lizard on the path.

Wild and windy weather.

Walking along the cliffs by Petrels Cove this morning as the tide was high on the beach and there was a huge amount of wet sea weed. We didnt walk far as the wind was threatening to blow us off the path but some lovely photos and so lovely to have all that fresh air. Home before it poured with rain.

Over to Goolwa this morning.

Railway tracks for the cockle train and the view from where we sat for coffee looking at the river and the bridge. It was a bit of an abortive trip over as we went to see an exhibition on at Signal Point, advertised opening time 10 am, no one there, had the coffee, came back well after 10.30 and still not open. I know that it is volunteers who run it but advertised times are advertised times. Not a good look I am afraid.
