Day 31 of my daily stitch.

I laced this frond, I like lacing running stitch as I can use different coloured threads to emphasize the original stitch.

Very tiring day - getting old.

The alarm went off at 5.45 am, breakfast and a shower and up to Adelaide to have hair cuts, just about every traffic light against us and the traffic full on. The first photo is the street down to the sea where my hairdresser lives. Then up through Adelaide, this photo taken at traffic lights. Called into see P and drop off eggs and then my sister to do the same. Home via the coast, picked up a burger for lunch and sat looking at this view before heading all the way south to home. So tired I fell asleep. Now vaguely awake and have to do my daily stitch. At least it is cooler.

Day 30 of my daily stitch

I used some tiny green cross stitch to use as a filler stitch. I may be hard to pick out. As I intend to try and keep this going for the full year some of my areas to stitch may be very small.

Morning walk. hot humid and still.

Not a terribly comfortable walk, we arrived back at the car hot and sticky and the air conditioner was bliss... until we got home. I have been washing all day but at last a cool change has come in Only problem is I now just want to fall asleep. I had hoped it might rain but only a few spots. t least our trip to Adelaide tomorrow will be reasonably comfortable. Swollen feet and getting old and humid heat are not a good combination.

Day 29 of my daily stitch

Another day, another wiggly line. What fun.

Goolwa wharf this morning

We went over to Goolwa earlyish this morning, I needed some fresh chilli's and there is a lovely man there who has them, we were a bit early to go and look at the galleries so a wander down to the wharf abd then up to see 2 quite different and interesting exhibitions. always worth going over to see what is on. It was getting hotter and I was glad we were home around 11 ish. It is now most uncomfortable in the house, hot and sticky and the evaporative air con doesnt do hot and sticky very well. In case you are wondering the odd photo is of the local paddle steamers wheel below the water line. I couldnt get a very good photo of the rest of it. This is the Oscar W. I dont work well in this weather.Oh for autumn, but we have at least 2 months of hot weather before that happens.

day 28 of my daily stitch

Another wavy line, I have changed the thread from Perle cotton to stranded cotton. I have a long way to go yet.

Beach walk this morning, heating up again.

We were early this morning but by the time I had been to the market and we got down to the beach it was warming up. I was glad to walk back up on the bike path where there is some shade. We finally caught the little red Belgium Bantam and she is on her own until she grows a bit more. I try to do as much as I can inside while it is hot, I have been doing work on my scrap books. I do have several, things I see on the net and print off incase I want to use them sometime, or just having the fun of looking at some lovely pictures. some embroidery done, but I try to do that at night when it is cooler. My face book page has been hacked again, I have to wait for my daughter to come and see what silly thing I have done this time. FB is all very well but I am really not terribly savvy when it comes to seeing where I have gone wrong.

Day 27 of my daily stitch.

I finished off the leaves on my tendril.

No walk so a bit around the garden

It is warming up again, so inside surviving having gone to shop this morning. I had a quick wander around the garden but it was almopst noon so things didnt photograph terribly well. A canna just starting to flower, my hydrangeas love it here under the trees, there is supposed to be a path but it is much too overgrown. Through the garden arch. All looking too lush, if we have a sudden 40 degrees things will suffer. Off to sit in front of the fan and do some hand stitching.

Day 26 daily stitch

My Australia day bit of stitching, my frond is not quite finished, tomorrow.

Australia Day in Victor Harbor

The town crier opening the proceedings this morning. After the ceromonies we went for a coffee and half a cake and cane home I have still been busy tidying up one room and my back is killing me. I seem to collect a lot of paper, and most I have done, they are tutorials on the net and they do take up a lot of room, I now have a large folder full. Just hope I know where they are when I want one.A very quiet day for us, John working outside and me inside. These short working days play havoc with ones normal timings. No walk tomorrow either, its a shopping day. Just hope it stays as cool and pleasant as today has been.

I have been tidying up.

I had an early morning trip into Victor for a blood taste, collected the papers and home for a later than usual breakfast. No walk but I think I walked more this morning than usual, tidying up. My work rooms haven't been touched since we'll before Christmas and are a disaster. A quick trip over to my youngest daughter, to deliver some surplus zucchini and collect a little bantam hen, who has sine escaped her coop. Hope I can find her when it starts to get dark. Anyway I did manage to do my daily stitch, laced my wandering tendrils from yesterday in a different blue, and I found the rather mad bird I did in Jill Maas class, he needed to have some more wire on his legs and got him attached to a wooden block. So a few things done but lots more to do.

24th daily stitch

Branching out a bit. Blue running stitch.

Early morning walk along the cliffs.

I picked the hammer head oyster shell up yesterday when we walked along the beach, such an interesting shell. we walked early along the cliff tops this morning, it was quite windy but pleasant and not hot and no flies. I am not sure if you can see the strings of semi circular sea weed left on the sand in one or the other of 2 or 3 photos, I dont think I had ever seen it like that before. We had about 11 mm yesterday but the wind has blown the humidity away thank goodness.I need to get to and tidy things up but at the moment all I feel like is sleeping. A bad night last night doesnt help I'm afraid.

this mornings walk, calm still hot and brooding.

It is now raining, this is semi tropical weather, hot and sticky, I am in a sleeveless top. It was quite hot while we walked and the sun came out but on the whole the sky was impressive.I have mended 3 pairs of Johns shorts, nice ones that just seemed to tear near the hem at the front on the bottom. Now to be used for around the house. I have fans on to keep the humidity on the move, and it is rather nice to hear the dripping of rain. I know the garden will love it, and the orchard lawn that Sarah mowed only a day or so ago will grow madly again. Such a different summer to the last few we have had.

Day 23 of my daily stitch

I have laced yesterday's running stitch, now perhaps to branch out a bit.

Day 22 of my daily stitch.

Not sure if you can see a yellow line of stitching. That is it for today.

Around the garden this morning before it heats up.

Itis warming up again. John has gone fishing, hope they catch something and after the excitements of the last 2 days I am having a quiet day. Went down to the yard and came back taking photos of what caught my eye in the garden. Still things doing relatively well, we have been so lucky this year having reasonable amounts of rain, 23.4mm in the gauge yesterday morning. The garden is loveing it, but then so are the weeds and the kikuyu grass. Will put up my stitch for today later when I have done it.

Days 20 and 21 of my daily stitch. New great grandsons blanket.

Today I met my new great grandson, he is beautiful, no photos as he was a cesarean and both mother and baby were rather tired., and I forgot my camera, silly me. I did give them the finally finished baby blanket. I have also put up 2 days of my daily stitch as it was the same, colonial knots and I did half yesterday and half today. I watched the Tour Down Under doing the McLaren Valencia Willing hill circuit, it shows how beautiful that area is, sea, hills and vines. Yesterday was a very tiring muddled day, I was worrying about the birth, finally heard all was well. Had to shop and both cars fell in a heap, mine needed more fluid for the power steering and the ute didn't have airconditioning. We went to Adelaide very briefly to deliver eggs and didn't manage to go to the sales day for the embroidered guild summer school. I was looking forward to catching up with Dale from The Thread Studio but coping with no airconditioning in the ute cab on even a relatively hot day just wasn't on. As it was I came home over tired.

Day 19 of daily stitch

Just added a stitch across my wiggly chain. Looks a bit like a centipede.

Busy morning Tour Down Under past our corner.

wow what a morning and early afternoon, We havent had the Tour go past the corner for a couple of years, but today it did, there was a break away, which was reeled in later but so exciting, helicopters, police, support vehicles. Home to watch the circuits around the town on tv. I had taken the photo of early morning sun on the plants by the bedroom door and we also had a walk on the beach. All go here today, we even had a tiny bit of rain. Off to do very belated dishes.

Lovely cool walk this morning/

Much cooler today, and a very low tide so we walked the cliffs at Petrel's. After being to see the eye specialist yesterday my eyes are a bit wonky, I am now on a list to have the cataract off, a tiny bit of a worry as my left eye sees very little after having had a hole in the macular (does it have an r or not?) I hsve some peripheral sight but not a huge amount and I know there are risks having a cataract removed but I dont think I have many options and if I can see to thread a needle again that will be great. So a lovely walk on a cool morning, I did hear the weather bureau fellow say this morning that the changes we are having are more like fast spring ones than summer ones. I am just happy not to have too much heat and humidity. There was a huge flock of galahs and sea gulls on the paddock feeding I presume on the left overs from the crop, Just missed the best part as they flew up as we went past. Have managed to finish the binding on the cot blanket, ran out of cotton thread yesterday so bought more today.now to pull out the tacking thread. I suppose I should sign it too.
