It was cold, wet and a bit emotional.

Of all the days I could have chosen for the scattering of my mothers remains it had to be Saturday. It had rained all night and there were showers all day and it was cold but not as windy as I thought.
A good gathering of the clan, who celebrated and told tales some of us had never heard before.
Lots of food eaten and drunk, the small ones had a lovely time and really didnt make too much of a mess.
Not much food left over and I think we gave her a good send off, grand sons coming from interstate, a few missing due to other commitments but on the whole a good turn out.
I just hope the same may happen for me!
I took the photo of the clematis by the bedroom door in the rain, I have never had much luck with them but they are doing so well at the moment, infact the garden with all this rain is still blooming magnificently and I really cannot say I had a lot to do with it. Poor John is out there cutting back.

I am sorry about the weather but glad that you were able to give your mother the send Off that she wished, and were surrounded by loved ones who could share old memories. It's what I would like for myself, too.

Looking at all that glorious space I am wishing my ashes will be scattered in such a place. So often at these send offs I think how much the person would have loved to be there telling stories and feeling the family togetherness..... and often I feel that they are actually sitting there enjoying it. That's what family gatherings are all about. Another milestone is passed Penny, and the clematis continues to bloom. Weird feeling isn't it? Glad you are enjoying your beautiful garden!

Thanks for sharing intimate moments with your on-line friends Penny. Whatever the weather, family is together and doing honours to your mother. One daughter-in-law and a grand-daughter are with us at present and it is delightful.

Maybe the rainy day was meant to be and actually made it more memorable, set it apart from others! A cleansing and nourishing day for all.

This day will be something you can add to the wonderful memories you have of your mother. What a beautiful send off for her with the people she loved.

Oh, I hadn't realised your Mother had died - Perhaps have missed it on your blog. Well, after all the organisation associated with such an event, I hope you get time for some quiet and pleasant reflection
