Wild and wet

It has been raining for days and the land is saturated, this latest lot began at about 11pm last night and hasnt stopped, gale force winds from the south, freezing cold and wet ontop of wet. We went into Victor this morning to get the papers and mail and had a short drive around the sea side, rain and wind gusting across abnd big waves reaching the cliffs at Petrel Cove. I thought the Back valley creek was high this morning but we have just been out for another look, over the flats, pouring from the hills on both sides, neighbours road cut spectacular. I love it when its like this, so long as I dont have to go too far away but it means that the springs will be full and it should I hope take a while for the ground to dry out. Not nice to work in but on these days one tends to batten the hatches and stay inside. I just hope no one foals in this. The ones we have should be old enough to cope, after all they are Welsh. Nothing like this for quite a few years, yet I think of this as a normal winter, the creek used to flood over the flats most winters and it hasnt for a long time.

There is something nice about a pouring wet day wheb one has no need to venture forth and so can sit at home and eat comfort food. But as you say, not so much fun for anyone who has to work in it.

WOW!! With so many places in the world in drought - this rain looks wonderful. Its always interesting to me that its usually 'feast or famine' -- big rain storm and then months of dry or just the opposite.
