This morning John and I went off for a while into the National Park we went out to Golden Beach and climbed down from the cliff top and wandered around, I found a few shells and bits and pieces, and a dead sea bird I was not allowed to bring back as it was a bit high!
These shells and the feather were what eventually made the steep climb back up, very largelimpets, and smaller prettier ones, an assortment of fans, a pheasant and a few cockles and mussels and other bits and pieces.
This emu is a bit out of contex as although we saw some in the park they were a bit far away, this one as you can see was by the road in the town and much easier to take a photo of.
The magnificent view of this beach that goes for milkes, and the sandhills, further down there are a lot of windfarm windmills but I dont think you can see them in this long shot.
Isnt it fantastic, there are miles and miles of this rugged coast line but I would not have liked to have been Matthew Flinders exploring this coast in a small ship and looking for water, you only have to think of what he named some of this area, Avoid Bay and Cape Catastrophie. Shallow reefs, heavy surf and all the scrub is about man high and terribly thick.
The last photo is looking the other way towards Golden Island.
We came home and had a coffee out, and I am slowly packing up, we hope to be off early tomorrow and will have to clean before we go.
A long tiring trip home and we have just been told the power has been off to the house, we are told they found it in time but what has happened to the frig and feezer I hate to think.
I always hate saying goodbye to my favorite beach places, and although it is now officially winter, today it certainly doesnt feel like it, warm and sunny and almost shirt sleeves weather.
No post probably for a day or two.
