Bubble bubble toil and trouble

I am having fun trying out some eco dyeing ala India flint, so out with the old bbq, a very old pot and gathering some eucalypt leaves and bark and on to simmer, add some leaves wrapped in silk around various things and voila! On the line some samples. The very fine one is I think a silk organza and the other two are also silk I was given when at Ballarat, At the moment I have more silk and some wool waiting for tomorrow when I take them out.
This is so good to do and so much fun. I have no idea what I will do with the results but something will happen.
Over the week end, must have been Saturday we went walking along the bike track at Encounter Bay and I couldnt resist taking this flowering Yucca's photo with the sea and Island as a back drop.
the weather has turned damp and cold and walking outside to the smell of eucalyptus leaves simmering and wood smoke blowing over head, the noise of calves bellowing and flocks of parrots sweeping over head is almost too much.
Dont forget my give away ends on Friday if you havent put your name in the comment section please do.

I'm sure you will think of something wonderful to do with it, Penny. Another blogging friend @wabisabiart once wrapped silk around some items and left it outside for a season with similar results.

When I first started to spin and weave I was really into natural dyes and found it so exciting to gather and experiment. Silk looks lovely Penny.

Hello Penny, saw your comment on Jude's sun, moon, stars, and thought it was nice to see another Aussie signed up. I've started doing some eco dyeing, waiting to unwrap my first bundles. India's book arrived today, so I'm looking forward to having some quiet later to browse through it.

I love your heart stitching in a previous post, lovely colours and composition.

Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Somehow I missed this post...and it is very interesting to me. I have always wanted to try natural dying of something...the silk is so gorgeous! Love the colors! I say hang it over something and display it everyday!!!
