Ann Wood mushroom

In between knitting my rabbit (not finished yet, I made a mistake and had to unpick) I have been playing with this mushroom, or more probably a toadstool, and have just finished it. I have another smaller one on the way, can't just have one. A lovely little design. More wintry weather, only a short walk around the garden as so cold and very wet and windy. We have had so much wind this year, so it has been fun finding indoor things to do, a cake made yesterday as well as the normal pretty household chores.

More little cats

I have been walking but think the rocks and waves are probably a bit boring. A couple of little cats have been made and i am on the last leg of the knitted rabbit. It is complicated and I need to be awake and on my own to work it out. I have done all the rest but then when the leg is finished I have to sew it up. Much smaller than I thought but I hope will be cute. I did manage to plant out 3 punnets of seedlings, now to see what will eat them.

George

I still can't access the Internet on my laptop so photos may be few and far between. I may be able to use Johns but he uses it a lot and we don't often have the time to work out who can do what. We argue as he does things completely different to me. Not really worth it. We did walk along the cliffs, no whales although there have been several around, including a couple of Orcas, among the surfers, might have been a bit interesting for them. George has had a bit of a tummy upset, but seems OK now, spent a lot of time curled up in odd places. Does love the fire, but then so do I. I am knitting a rabbit one of Little cotton rabbits patterns, so far it is nice to do but now I have to make the legs, might have to go in a quiet corner to do it.

Chaos

My lap top has been sick, I can't get it to connect to anything but my emails. We have both spent hours trying to work out what is wrong, and then how to connect my camera to a/ WiFi and b/to my tablet. All very frustrating and time wasting. So here I am with one photo I took this morning. Yesterday I had some wonderful photos as we went over to Pt Elliot and there were some spectacular waves coming over the rocks. It has been very cold and a bit damp, but I have managed to pull some weeds and knitted a rabbits head. Oh and a bit of news, looks as if, all going well, we will b e great grand parents again early in the New Year. Great excitement.

A very strange rabbit.

I had to take a photo of a bit of sun. We have had rain squalls all day very cold and when we actually got some sun I raced into the sun room for a photo. I have just heard that Britain is not wanting to keep with the E U interesting times ahead there I think. So to the rabbit, very strange !! He is a free bee from Jill Maas, a lovely cloth doll designer. I made him from a piece of of odd coloured pane velvet. I think maybe I should have put his head further back but I do rather like him, little monster rabbit!! Just had a visit from an old school friend, we were in kindergarten and then all through school together . It was fun to catch up, hadn't seen each other for ages.

The socks are finally finished

I finished the socks by the fire yesterday, I needed time on my own to concentrate on the final bit. So glad they are done. I do have other sock making wool but will give it a rest for a while. Forecast of possible snow on the Mt Lofty ranges and the Flinders Ranges for Friday morning, it will be interesting if that happens, it is quite rare and doesnt last long. I am making a free e pattern of a small rabbit from Jill Maas site, havent played like this for a while and it is quite fun. I have also started knitting a rabbit, I will see how they turn out. No walks for a while so I have to keep busy inside.

Cats and photos from a walk

I have been very naughty and havent been blogging. It is so cold and wet and windy that going out here to my bedroom to use the computer is something I tend to put off. I use my tablet by the fire but dont always have the photos on that. I have been making more felt cats, mostly to see which ones I like to make and also to put away for presents. I have been having fun, lots of ideas on pinterest. We did manage a walk yesterday, in a very light drizzle, the road along the base of the Bluff is relatively sheltered and the sea was quite flat for a change so I took the photo of the reflections in the water below the jetty and on the other side where there was some rather nice textures in rocks and logs. I missed the seal though. To day it is pouring with rain so I am inside trying to catch up on a few bits and pieces it is cold too so I am about to sit by the fire and knit for a little while to thaw out..

We walked this morning

I have on the whole had a busy week and tomorrow I go to Adelaide for a meeting so wont be home much then. We tried walking on the beach this morning but the swells were too high and there was no beach, just huge piles of sea weed so we went along to the cliffs by Petrel's instead. Bit windy and blustery and the waves were quite churned up. Not a long walk but enough. Home and washing done and a bit of gardening and I am back sewing for a while. I have a roast of pork on for dinner tonight, I think we are eating too much! Crayfish for lunch yesterday, Pork for dinner tonight.

Tiny cats, the last of the roses and night sky.

I have been playing with cats, a bit of felt and a few outlines and I am trying to see which ones I like best. Fun to do on a cold damp afternoon, in between boring dusting and mopping. I went out while it was dry and pulled a few weeds and brought in the last of the roses, lovely Lamarque. I know they are a bit battered and won't last long but they smell lovely. I took the photo of the last bit of light in the sky last night. They (the weather bureau) keep telling us we will have rain but so far not much, just enough to wet the washing.

Around the garden

While the sun is out and before it rains again. I finished cutting back the blue sage and now have a back ache. Silly woman. I wandered around the other side of the house and found two different red camellias flowering, the Sasanqua I think is Yuletide and the other is Firefox, the little red cyclamen is one that I bought as a flowering pot plant and with no hope of it flowering planted in the garden, the odd flower is there every year now. So much that should be done in the garden but my poor old body finds it so hard to get things done. I am just pleased when old friends put out flowers for me.

A bit of this and that.

I have just finished this little felt cat, next time I think I will do his markings a bit darker but I quite like him. to add to a friends birthday present. I am still knitting my 2nd sock!! John brought in another orchid from the shade house, it is a very early dendrobium cross, I love the colour and the tips of the petals, I love this shape of the native crosses. We walked on the beach this morning and usually when we find a live turban washed up on the sand we throw them back but this one was attached to a rock and as the tide was low and showing every sign of coming in we left it. Just general weed and rocks and water. It was cold, we had a frost this morning and there was a cold easterly blowing along the beach, but nice to be out. I think I am allergic to one of my rather nice salvias that I have done some of the cutting back on, still more to go but the way I felt after I had done a small amount I think I will take it slowly.

Walk and a catch up with friends

You dont often see John, we had gone in early to walk the cliffs near Petrel Cove and then catch up with friends for coffee at what we still call Whalers, I think it is now called Eat. Any way a lovely walk and a great time to catch up with friends. We must do it again.

Walks, yesterday and today

finally we managed a couple of walks, yesterday after shopping and before going to the pictures a walk along the cliff top near Petrel cove and this morning along the beach near Kent Reserve. We have had some high tides and storm surges and although there was some sea weed along the beach some had washed away and so had some of the sand from the for dune. Lovely walks but tiring, I have to watch my feet on the sea weed. a lone black oyster catcher and shag but no hooded plover, there were 6 on the beach the other day.

Saw this today, fabulous

dont often go to the movies but talked John into going with me and we both loved it. Having been to New Zealand skiing lots of times over the years, we love the country. Their films are also always good and this one was funny with one of the best chase scenes I have ever seen. and well lets just say I loved it See it if you can.

Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday

I had a dental appointment in Adelaide on Tuesday, I have never been in the city with so few cars, I know they are ripping things up all over the place but this was ridiculous. Grenfell St Adelaide at about 10.45 am. Up to spend the night with friend P and I took this from inside her house, the mulberry over the fence. Very wet and cold and a bit miserable but those yellow leaves cheered things up. We had a wander and saw a couple of galleries. Nice to do. Then home and this morning, more wind and rain, George thought the sun room was a good place to be. One of the orchids that came in from the cold, and the huge pumpkin John had just picked and brought in, part of it is now pumpkin soup. Yum. No walk as the rain came pouring down again. I rather like winter but I do miss my walks. Back to knitting the sock, on the last bit so it shouldnt take too long now.

My lovely bag arrived

My lovely bag designed and made by Ann Jackson in Victoria arrived today. I had seen some she made and sold at Ballarat and really wanted one, she was coming over to visit her daughter but unfortunately we were on kangaroo Island so sent and paid for. Love it, it has a secret pocket for a phone etc. A walkers bag she calls it with room for a bottle of water. My blogging has been a bit haphazard I am afraid, we walked this morning and as you can see the beach was largely unwalkable with banks of sea weed along it. My back has been bad for a week so I have done very little, all I needed to do and a lot of reading, anything to forget about the ache. I havent had one like this for ages and just hope I get over it soon. Walking has been difficult too. Riding in the car rather a disaster too and I seem to have done a lot of that. It has come in cold and and dark and rainy at the moment, still it is winter, we had 18 mm in 2 sharp bursts of rain last night and it was sunny enough to get sheets out and in, just a bit of airing needed this morning, and now it is pouring again. I will be in Adelaide for a day and a night tomorrow, dentist, then staying with P and John will pick me up after he has a meeting in town on Wednesday so it works reasonably well, it will be nice to spend a bit of time with P as we usually fly in and fly out again.

Fog this morning

When I got up around 6.30 this morning it was quite clear and by about 8 am the fog was on the top of the hills, by the time we went into Victor to shop you could barely see anything. Lighter in Victor but got steadily thicker again. Didnt lift until quite a lot later and was freezing cold. Winter is here. I had a lovely day yesterday, lunch in town with friends to celebrate a 79 th birthday, I am in my 80th year she said proudly, and after quite a few health scares in her life is fit and well and certainly doesnt look her age. I didnt get home until well after dark, a hold up with an accident on the way home and I dont drive much at night much any more so it was rather a white knuckle drive for some of it with traffic and lights pouring at me from the other way. Once I got more onto the open road it was easier. Shopping and ironing today, corned beef for dinner so we have some cold meat for sandwiches for lunch next week.
