Coffee

Here are some odd photos taken during the week, Coffee in Victor with Will holding Mason, very awkwardly then Millie looking at the cockle train as it went past the windows and finally Tabby and Millie, Gaby, Evie, Marguerite and Will with the cockle train in the background.
I have been so busy this week, Simon and Marguerite and the family left yesterday and since then I have done nothing but wash bedding and towels with a washing machine that I think is on its last legs.
Last night we went to the cocktail party for the Rotary Clubs 30 years of art shows and to show off the paintings the council has had over those years, one forgets how many lovely paintings there were.
We are going to the opening tonight, in a few minutes and then out to dinner.

Illawarra Flame tree flowers

As I was walking between Bunnings and the Officeworks (to get some more ink) I saw these flowers lying by the steps. I didnt get a photo of the tree as I was in imminent danger of being run over! Click on the first photo and you will see what they look like, absolutely enchanting. I knew they were a brachychiton but I wasnt sure which one until I got home.
Aussie Jo has just emailed to point out that in my last post I incorrectoly spelt groynes, yes it was a slip of the finger, I think, although there were a lot of the other kinds around too, but at least I know someone read my blog! I have to say my friend Virginia in Germany has given up correcting my dislectic spelling. I think that is spelt incorrectly too but you know what I mean.
We were in Adelaide today to see my mother, who was fit and well and for John to see the accountant briefly and have a beard trim. I had to call into Spotlight as somewhere I have some vliesofix but I really dont know where in this upheaval of a house, got some interesting paper and some brads as well, wondering if they would be useful for the Ratty Tatty papers on line course I am about to start with Dale.
The children leave tomorrow so I can have my house back and try to get some serious dieting done, well I will try but a cocktail party tomorrow night wont help.
Feel so sorry for Marguerite as both she and Simon work and part of her plans for children next week has fallen through and I cant get over to help out, they have no relations in Melbourne and struggle during school holidays.

A different look at things

This is the back of the garage which I really must clean out, although a friend did say it would make a wonderful sketch, all the things in my life from an old saddle an old computer and a nappy box!
Then this couple walking on the beach, when they turned around they both might just as well been wearing nothing, his pants were so low there wasnt much covered and she was rather the same.
What a hoot.
Then the groins from a different angle as I was starting off at a different place and only had 1/2 an hour to walk.
I am very tired, managed to get a lot of the ironing done, but of course more washing. I think they go on Thursday, not that I want them to I just find it all very tireing.
Adelaide tomorrow so M is going to cook which will be lovely. I seem to have done an awful lot of cooking and washing and the house needs a jolly good scrub.
Saw a black snake today out by the pigeon house, didnt look like a red bellied black and I am rather afraid it was a tiger snake. We dont often get them here and I really worry about them, it could be the same one I saw trying to get into the chook house a few weeks ago.

Altered Book pages

I had some time today while the family was out to do a bit more to my altered book pages, a lot are in colours I wouldnt normally use but they happen to be what I had and were easily accessible.
Any way they were fun to do.
I managed a walk on the beach and a visit to the physio who seems to think the knee is getting better but I must rest!!
Huh, and try to lose weight at the moment that is impossible, but I will try my best once every one has gone.
Wonderful weather, getting hotter but not too hot, it is so pleasant when it is like this.
We have just booked our flights to Melbourne and the Gold Coast so the visa has just got a hammering.

Pt Willunga for Virginia

Late this afternoon we went to Pt Willunga to have a short walk on the beach and have dinner with a friend.
We took the whiting John had caught and we went down to look at what they had been doing as quite a lot of cliff fell in this year.
We had a lovely day, I saw Gaby and Mason this morning so not a lot done but lovely social things.
It has been getting quite warm and the beaches have been wall to wall people.
It is now late and I have once again indulged both in too much food and wine and it is time for bed.

Of dogs and beaches and family

The beach photos span two days, yesterday and today, the dinner with some of the family was last night, very much a spur of the moment thing gathering some of them together as the Melbourne lot havent much time here.
Suddenly with the holidays my favorite walking beach has become infested with packs of dogs, some people only have one but a lot seem to have three or four. Not always a happy combination.
the sailing regatta has finished this morning although I would have thought they would have had normal sailing as it is Saturday.
Yesterday was very windy and quite cold, today was much warmer and there were people swimming.
I havent had time to do anything creative, unless you call cooking creative. Yesterday I made a boiled fruit cake and a potato salad and a green salad and crumbed 24 filets of whiting.
This morning as John was going fishing, although this is the worst time of the year to catch fish, and I went in To Victor early to go to the market, I got some olive oil, and collect the papers and then walk along the beach.
Yesterday I found a really quite fresh sea dragon on the beach, forgot to photograph it, but it is now in the shed drying out. I am not sure if it is a leafy or not as not a lot of leaves left on it.

Yesterday and today

When we walked yesterday we watched the Yvonne catamarans racing in the bay, I think it was The National championships, I remember when the Yvonnes were fist introduced here many many years ago.
Then a crab who was very embarrassed when I took his photo and finally this morning the
Queen of the night cactus that has been scrambling in a tree for years and never flowered has finally flowered.
We had a lovely night with friends last night, a great dinner and we watched the fire works from their house going from Hindmarsh Island around to Victor making a great spectacle.
Today I have cleaned the house, washed as we found a leak from some where that had wet towels in the cupboard, annoying.
We have more drinks to go to tonight which I had forgotten about and family arriving as well.
Hope my knee holds up.
