Wonderful clouds this morning
It has suddenly got very hot about 36 degrees and a bit humid, after the lovely cool weather we have been having a bit of a shock. I have spent all morning either washing or preparing and stewing the plums I collected on Sunday for freezing. It got rather warm in the kitchen but that is one job finished. Suddenly in the night I thought I might turn the surplus zuccinis into a base for soup for the freezer too. That hasnt quite happened as my feet are rebelling about the heat. perhaps a little later on, its is such a shame not to use up the produce from the garden. Aftaer all I did clean out and tidy up the chest freezer so there is room. Just so long as I remember them.

a lovely morning
Over to friends property to pick tomatoes and plums followed by morning tea. A lovely idea, John went fishing, havent heard yet if he got any fish. Their orchard is covered so they dont have the problems we have with birds. I will be stewing and freezing plums tomorrow for morning breakfast fruit in the future. Just hope I have enough room in the freezer. So nice to get out and about on a beautiful morning. Thank you R and L.

Morning walk and my little rooster
We had a lovely walk this morning, cool and with a blustery wind on the cliffs and quite rough seas. I am only just manageing these walks at the moment which is annoying, a poor night last night didnt help. The little Japanese bantam is gorgeous, but terribly independent and whenever I put him in a coop or cage manages to get out and struts his stuff around the big hens. I just hope something doesnt get him as he roosts high, but in the open and I worry about hawks and owls. So nice to be cool and I have been out potting a few things up, but it is about to get hot again this coming week. I am still sewing but will have to put that in another post.

Odds and ends.
Many many years ago I was given a pip of a Jack Humm crab apple, I planted it and it grew, it must have been a good 30 years agoago, it wasn't planted in the best place in the orchard and I doubted if it would come true. I am not sure if it is a true Jack Humm butfinally this year it has had fruit, much larger than my other crab apples. I have done another orange flower, next more leaves. I have been to have my feet done today, always nice to have them looked at, an exercise to do. No foot no horse, or in this case, human.

Bit of this and that
I made a fabric ball for Lachlan and dropped it in this morning, had a cuddle and then we walked, got a little damp from the drizzle, a few things from around the garden, a blue agapanthus, a belladonna lily, a lovely day lily, bright orange and deep red gorgeous, our walk, a wattle by the track that is out and was perfuming the air around, the Bluff in the distance with low wet clouds. After all that horrible wind yesterday it was lovely to have a still day and not much but a little drizzle to dampen things up.

Two more days of my daily stitch.
Absolutely hideous day, howling winds, no rain and dust blowing. No walk as I think we would have been blown over.My wonky eyes don't like dust in them. I have been sewing and doing some of my embroidery. Put in the red herringbone stitch and then the blue detached chain. I have also played with making a fabric ball. Not finished yet. I do wish this wretched weather meant some rain but it doesn't. I suppose it's not stinking hot, yet. I drove up to Adelaide and back yesterday, delivered some eggs and friend P gave me a sandwich and tea and drove home again. I called into our local nursery and spent my egg money on a grevillea moonlight that I have been looking for, nearly didn't call in but I needed to stretch my legs and it is a lovely nursery. I hate wind it is so damaging.

Morning walk, clouds, cool breeze and then some sun.
A lovely walk this morning, in 4 days the beach had changed again. People were launching boats, we saw 6 of the hooded plover, the odd dog walker and us. It has warmed up a bit with the sun out but still very pleasant. A funny thing happened this afternoon. Eldest daughter Sarah has been away judging a horse show in Albury, NSW and was due home early afternoon, but as often happens going through to Sydney the plane was held up with high winds so she wont be home until this evening. Her dogs, a tiny poodle, a cairn terrier and the border collie needed to be let out to have a wee, so down I went, to be bailed up by Isabelle's dog Nala. When I went to let them up she stood infront of the door and growled, so a quite a few moments talking I managed to convince her I was not a robber that she knew me and I had been down before, but she said people were home then, they are not now. Finally got them all up onto the orchard lawn to do a wee, Nala sat under a tree and watched every move I made until all were ready to go back into their cage again. She is quite a frightening looking dog, looks a bit like a blond woolf and stares you down. Any way all was well.

Morning at Goolwa beach and wretched cyclists.
We went over to Goolwa this morning to see a lovely exhibition by Nicole Pascal, different, interesting and reasonably priced. Loved it. A quick walk around the market and then a walk along the beach, so different to our more local ones. Over to Tabby to drop off her 1st wedding photos, they have a wedding there at Easter and wanted some ideas for greenery. A bit of a shock, we all looked so young seeing those photos again. On our way this morning around a corner and cyclists. I was a bit slow getting the camera and by the time I took this they were more or less on their side of the road. This is a relatively quiet road, it is 100 kph though and there are milk tankers, farm vehicles and a lot of corners. One day some one will be killed and they will blame the motorist. I really hate the numbers that we now see on country roads, with no thought for motorists. It has been around 17 degrees for most of the morning with the odd quite wet shower. I am having to wear more clothes. Off to quietly sit and do some embroidery.

This and that
It has been surprisingly cold and windy today with the odd shower, it was teaming with rain when we left the market and so no walk. A few photos from around the garden. The peace is making a mess, she has 5 chick's at the moment. Maybe not for long as something took the head of one of my bantam hens, through the cage. No idea what but feel quite sick. More filling stitches on my daily stitch. My moth orchid is flowering again, it has taken nearly 12 months for it to throw up another spike.

A little bit of stitching.

Another rose, George and 2 days of daily stitch.
I cut my finger so had to do 2 days of stitch, you may not work them out but I am filling in, some tiny snowflakes in a yucky green and some cross stitch in a shiny green. Just above the red knots. I am using this as a sort of diary so I know when and what I have done. John collected a rose bud when he was picking the peaches, they are under a net and so is the rose. We are having terrible trouble with slaters climbing the peach tree and making holes in our not very big crop of lovely peaches. It has never happened before and we think it might be the cool and damp weather we have been having. Our walk was in low cloud and mizzle. Not like February at all. I thought another photo fof George, John is doing the vacuuming, I have dusted but George loves to take an interest in it all, and occasionally leaps onto the hose from on top of the little table.

Morning walk
Absolutely stunning, but really quite hot morning walk, the reflections and the clouds were lovely. I was glad to get home though as the sun was hot.I am ironing, slowly, being a bit wicked as I go from that to reading the last book of The Lord of the Rings in between a few other household things, no sewing until I finish the book. I dont know how many times I have read it but the last time was a long while ago. I know what happens but the writing is so good, the horror is so real. Well back to tw last shirts to iron and then organise dinner. I know I repeat these scenes in my photos but they are always just a bit different.
